Climate
Climate change is a pressing issue for all. At Aetha we are committed to reducing our impact.
We understand the dangers that climate change poses across the world. Aetha is taking significant steps towards measuring and reducing the impact that we, as a company, have on the climate.
Having investigated our greenhouse gas emissions, we decided to set a target that aligns with limiting global temperatures to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels – the most ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) say that limiting global temperatures in this way “requires deep, rapid and sustained greenhouse gas emissions reductions in all sectors”.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved Aetha’s near-term emissions reduction target. We have committed to the target set out below.
As a separate initiative we are investigating plans to offset all our carbon emissions.
Reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions 42% by 2030 compared to 2022.
42% reduction in Scope 1&2 emissions by 2030
Measure and reduce Scope 3 emissions
The SBTi is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Initiative (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It seeks to promote best practice in setting science-based targets and independently assess companies’ targets.
Aetha is excited that our near-term commitment has been approved by the SBTi.
The target gives a clearly defined pathway to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions – an important step in reducing our impact on the environment.
