Spectrum Sandbox Stakeholder Workshop

11 June 2024

Aetha, along with Queen Mary University of London, Telet, and Federated Wireless, hosted a workshop on our work as part of DSIT’s Spectrum Sandbox projects at Queen Mary’s West Smithfield campus on Tuesday, 11th June.

The workshop involved a wide group of stakeholders and discussed the possibility of dynamic assignment of spectrum licensed to mobile operators where it is underutilised, made possible by the use of advanced sensing equipment and dynamic spectrum access databases.

A panel session, moderated by Professor William Webb, tackled key questions on the expected benefits of spectrum sharing, the role of technological advancements and innovative licensing models in fostering collaboration, and the biggest barriers to spectrum sharing in the UK. The panel included BT’s Andy Sutton, Digital Catapult’s Charles Turyagyenda, and Freshwave’s Mike Kennett.
